Thom makes some very valid points in a December 23rd Op-Ed about the state of America versus other countries. That we’ve rewarded our smartest people with higher incomes in the financial industry versus innovators and engineers; and that the USA may not be “#1″ any more as our economy dwindles and our infrastructure falls out of pace with other countries.

Also, make sure you check out the comments section where there are some very insightful comments from people who mostly “couldn’t agree more,” such as myself. Right now, the article is the most-emailed on the NY Times site.

And finally, speaking of JFK International Airport, I couldn’t agree more. The last time I was there I started to take photos, it was so bad. Huge stains in the carpeting, disgusting bathrooms where there was literally used toilet paper on the floor. Awkward industrial setups of long meandering hallways to get you to the baggage claim, and people herded around like cattle in a typical New York style by disguntled, obnoxious employees from Queens.

The last time I flew out of JFK, luckily the flight was two hours delayed as I would have missed the flight due to the security lines.
